Safety Protocols for Volunteering at Leket Israel - group-reps
Please read the security instructions below and confirm that you have read and understood them.
Safety Orientation
Before commencing work, volunteers must undergo a safety orientation from a staff member of the Volunteer Department.
Volunteers must follow the instructions of the coordinator and Leket Israel staff.
Logistics Center
Access Routes
Entry and exit for volunteers are only through the orange door on the north side of the building; do not enter through the operational area.
The number of people allowed in the sorting area at any given time should not exceed 50.
Sorting Area
Authorized entry for volunteers is only with closed shoes.
Smoking is prohibited inside the building.
Do not leave the defined waiting area without the coordinator’s approval.
Entry into the sorting area is allowed only under the coordinator’s instructions and after the crates have been moved to the operational area.
Use the marked path when walking to the restrooms.
Do not enter the loading area without an escort from Leket employees.
Do not enter the sorting area with food or drinks.
Do not climb onto or sit inside bins and/or boxes.
Do not climb or stand on bins, boxes, chairs, tables, or any other surface; keep both feet on the floor at all times.
Do not throw agricultural produce into bins or at people.
Do not use sharp tools such as knives and scissors without guidance from Leket staff.
Do not lift more than one box/carton simultaneously – the weight of one box should not exceed 15kg/30lbs.
The first aid kit is located next to the extinguisher in the waiting area.
Volunteers are prohibited from working with cargo handling equipment such as manual or electric pallet jacks without training.
It is forbidden to operate sorting machines without specific training.
Do not make loud noises during volunteering.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
In case of emergency, stop work, evacuate the building through the nearest exit, and follow the team’s instructions.
Fields
Stop the bus only in the designated area for volunteer drop-off; vehicles should park only in approved volunteer parking spaces.
Safely approach the activity area through the marked volunteer route.
Arrive at the activity area with closed shoes, wear a hat in warm months, and have an adequate water supply.
Do not deviate from the designated volunteer area due to concerns about passing vehicles, forklifts, trucks, tractors, etc.
Beware of dangling branches, thorns, and crawling creatures.
No throwing items, including fruit and vegetables and people.
Do not climb or swing on trees and ladders.
Do not stand on inverted crates.
Do not climb onto or into towed vehicles/cars.
No smoking in the field, except in designated areas.
Use only tools that have been explained and approved for use by the Leket Israel team.
Do not use knives/scissors without proper training.
Do not use power tools.
Gleaning should only take place in authorized areas guided by Leket Israel representatives.
Do not work in harvesting with headphones or amplified music through speakers/karaoke systems.
Ensure maximum shade and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun in extreme weather conditions with heat or other extremes. Prevent any possibility of sunburn or dehydration.
Return all tools to their designated places after volunteering.
Ensure a clean work area.
In case of emergency, stop work, evacuate the area through the closest exit, and follow the team’s instructions.
