Leket Israel, the National Food Bank, is the leading food rescue organization in Israel. Founded in 2003 by Joseph Gitler, Leket bridges the gap between abundance and need by rescuing nutritious surplus food and redirecting it to Israelis in need.

Each year, Leket works with thousands of farmers, packing houses, hotels corporate cafeterias and IDF army bases, to rescue millions of pounds of fresh fruit, vegetables, and prepared meals that would otherwise go to waste. This food is distributed through a network of nonprofit partner agencies that serve the most vulnerable populations across Israel, including families living in poverty, Holocaust survivors, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

In 2024, Leket Israel collected 31,400 tons of fresh agricultural produce and over 2 million hot meals which were distributed through a network of 300 nonprofit partner agencies feeding 415,000 Israelis in need each week. Leket also hosted 95,000 volunteers from all over the world at the Leket Israel Logistics Center, the fields in Rishon Lezion and at farms throughout the country.
