The fruits and vegetables are divided into five categories based on color. Each group represents a source of essential vitamins and dominant phytochemicals. It is recommended that everyone eat from each color category daily. Studies have shown that the phytochemicals present in various colors of produce, work together with the vitamins and fibers found on both the exterior and interior of the produce to protect the health of our bodies and prevent aging and illness (i.e. heart disease, cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol etc.).
