Gleaning in the Fields
Join Leket’s gleaning initiative Project Leket to help pick vegetables for distribution to Israel’s needy.
This takes place at two locations: Moshav Nahalal in Emek Yizrael in the Southern Galilea, Kvutzat Shiler fields in central Israel, and Leket’s Tzuran orchard in central Israel (seasonal).
Volunteers collect surplus prepared meals daily from numerous suppliers and transport them directly to NPOs and soup kitchens all over the country.
Every month, volunteers rescue tens of thousands of meals from banquet halls, food courts in malls, restaurants and more. The volunteers receive email updates regarding locations and days and hours of collections (mostly evenings), and then respond based on their availability. In most cases, volunteers collect the food using their own private vehicles.
Volunteer and tour Leket Israel’s logistics centers (Ra’anana and Nesher), the heart of the organization, and help sort and pack produce in preparation for distribution to the NPOs that Leket serves.
