Vangie made Aliyah from the Philippines in 1999, lives in Ramat Gan and volunteers in Leket\u2019s Meal Rescue project in the Tel Aviv area.<\/div>\n

. She works by herself, truly enjoys the volunteering and feels like this is a unique and exhilarating activity. Vangie is always up for a challenge; seeking large places from which to rescue food. She likes a lot of action, keeping busy and therefore, volunteers twice a week. When she started collecting food three evenings weekly, Vangie was told to take it easy. She has her own car but prefers rescuing  food in the Shenkin area of Tel Aviv on foot.<\/p>\n

Vangie recalls the first time she volunteered, \u201cit was exciting, the food donors are so pleased to give and this brought me such joy.\u201d She continued, \u201c They thank me for collecting from them and allowing them to do something good and to contribute.\u201d<\/p>\n

How long have you been volunteering  at Leket Israel?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been volunteering for over three months, twice or three times weekly in Leket\u2019s meal rescue project; collecting cooked food from restaurants and food courts in the mall during the evening hours.<\/p>\n

How did you come to volunteer at Leket?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I had been looking to volunteer for a while, heard about Leket Israel, checked out their website, signed up online and then got started.<\/p>\n

What causes you to stay?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a wonderful and rewarding feeling, the ability to help individuals and families in need. The work that Leket Israel does inspires me to help others and Leket offers a range of volunteer options allowing people to get involved in a project that interests them.<\/p>\n

What does this experience give you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each time I volunteer, I feel that even if my part is small, I can help, and that makes me even more grateful for what I have and for having the opportunity to assist others<\/p>\n

One last thought:  \u201cWell done!\u201d to Leket Israel and to all of its volunteers for their work. I do my small part and other people do theirs and together it amounts to something large and meaningful. May we all continue this way!<\/p>\n
