\u201cWhen I found myself with a lot of free time, I knew I had to find something to do and I knew Leket was where I wanted to be,\u201d recalls Edna. A longtime supporter of Leket, Edna had volunteered numerous times over the years with her family and school, whenever the opportunity arose.<\/p>

\u201cIn the beginning, I went wherever they sent me; to pick tomatoes in Binyamina, or harvest beets in Rishon Lezion, or do home deliveries of hot meals around Ra\u2019anana.\u201d However, the majority of Edna\u2019s volunteering has been at the Leket Israel Logistics Center. Edna comes three times a week, helping to sort and pack fresh produce for people in need. She has brought friends and family members along with her, some who have never even heard of Leket. \u201cThere are so many \"\" people who have time on their hands right now and are looking for a way to help others,\u201d Edna shares. \u201cThis is the perfect match between people who want to give back and the growing need throughout Israel. It\u2019s very fulfilling to be able to be on the giving end.\u201d<\/p>

For Leket, Edna is the ideal volunteer, always ready to lend a hand when needed. \u201cDuring the lockdown, we had to limit the number of volunteers we were able to accommodate in the Logistics Center. If people cancelled and we were left short-handed, we always knew that we could call Edna to come over to help, even at the last minute,\u201d acknowledges Vered Katzav Goldshtein, Director of Volunteering at Leket Israel. \u201cAfter all these months with us, Edna understands the way we work, how to run the machines, and how to fill the orders \u2013 she\u2019s very fast, very productive, and very efficient.
