Every week, Leket feeds 175,000 people through its partnerships with nonprofit organizations all around the country. \u00a0\u00a0This past March, Leket continued to close this gap by opening a new collection route in the Dead Sea region and donating an additional 1,500 meals per week to four organizations in the south.<\/p><p>Leket realized that the amount of food it was rescuing wasn\u2019t enough to supply to its partner agencies in the area. As a result, Leket decided to branch out. Now, working with five hotels in the Dead Sea region, the Herods Hotel, the Leonardo Club, the Leonardo Plaza, the Isrotel Ganim and the Isrotel Dead Sea, Leket collects and distributes 200-300 meals daily to four nonprofits in Arad, Dimona and Yerucham.<\/p><p>The recipient NPOs, Chabad of Arad, Birkat Lily, Eshel Dimona and Eshel Yerucham today provide between 40-100 meals a day to the elderly and immigrant populations in their communities. They serve as both distribution centers where people come to pick up food and as soup kitchens where people can sit in the cafeterias to enjoy a hot meal. \u00a0The new partnership between Leket, the hotels and the nonprofits will expand the reach and increase assistance to those in need.<\/p><p style=\"direction: ltr;\">Leket driver, Uriel Saadia, is the main force behind this initiative, collecting the food in the hotels and then delivering the hot meals to the Leket partner agencies. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of potential in this region for us to work with. With only five hotels, we\u2019re already feeding almost 300 more people per day, imagine what we could do working with even more hotels.
