Who can volunteer?
Volunteering with Leket Israel is a hands-on activity:
- Harvest Helpers: Gleaning at our fields in Rishon Lezion is appropriate for all ages.
- Leket on the Move: Sorting and packing at our Logistics Center in Gan Haim is appropriate for all ages. Please note, the Logistics Center is an active warehouse and young children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
No previous experience is required.
When can I volunteer?
Volunteering must be coordinated ahead of time. Please fill out the form and a representative will be in touch shortly.
Leket on the Move: Gan Haim Logistics Center – Central Israel:
Days: Sunday – Thursday
Shifts: Morning (9:30am – 12pm)
Sunday – Wednesday
Afternoon (12:45pm – 3pm)
Late afternoon (3pm – 5pm)
Rishon Lezion Fields – Central Israel:
Days: Sundays – Thursdays
Shifts between: 9am – 12pm (2-hour shift)
What do I need to bring?
- All volunteers are required to wear closed-toed shoes. You will NOT be permitted to volunteer without closed-toed shoes.
- We recommend that you wear clothing that is suitable for outdoor work.
- Each volunteer in the fields is asked to bring a hat and 2 liters of water.
Who receives the food?
All food gleaned, sorted and packed by Leket volunteers is distributed to our 300 nonprofit partners throughout Israel. This rescued food is provided to Israelis in need regardless of age, background and religion.
What happens if it rains?
Please note that Harvest Helpers is weather-dependent, and in case of bad weather, we will notify you a day in advance for rescheduling.
Is there transportation to the volunteering location?
Organized transportation to and from our sites is not available, and there is very limited public transportation nearby. We strongly recommend that all volunteers consider arranging private car or taxi services for their transportation. Please note that calling a taxi or coordinating transportation is your responsibility. Unfortunately, our team is unable to assist in this matter.
How can I help if I’m not able to volunteer in Israel?
Leket supporters can help in many ways beyond volunteering in the fields or at the Logistics Center. The easiest way to support Leket is to ‘like’ our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok and share our posts on social media with your friends and family.
You can also organize a fundraiser or chesed (charity) project, host an information session for your community, congregation or organization or support Leket Israel on the occasion of a simcha (special occasion) or community event by opening a personalized charity page. Do I need insurance to volunteer?
In order to be covered by Bituach Leumi – National Insurance you must fill out a form that will be sent to you with your volunteer confirmation. We strongly encourage you having your own additional private insurance as well.

Independent picking from private home gardens, throughout Israel. Suitable for residents only, during citrus season.
Shabbat Metukah
Packing and distribution of food parcels to Holocaust survivors. (central Israel). Activity is run on Thursdays and Fridays. For residents only. Must have a driver’s license and a car.

Shabbat Metukah
There is Shabbat Metukah distribution in the following cities: Ramat Hasharon, Ramat Gan, Netanya, Petach Tikva, Rehovot and Haifa. Shabbat Metukah requires a car
Herzeliya – Pickup at the Arena Mall in Herzeliya on Fridays between 8:30am – 11am
Haifa – Pickup from HaHalutz 64 on Fridays between 10am-12pm
Netanya – Pickup from Dora Gym on Thursdays from 5pm-6:30pm
