In honor of Rosh Hashanah, Leket Israel is launching a special holiday initiative called Leket B’Dvash —with Dvash meaning honey in Hebrew. This project builds on Leket Israel’s daily mission of rescuing surplus, high-quality food and delivering it to hundreds of thousands of people in need, while adding an extra measure of joy and festivity for the holiday season.
Ahead of the Jewish New Year, Leket wanted to go beyond providing nutritious food and also bring families the warmth and spirit of the holiday. The goal was not only to fill plates, but also to fill hearts—with symbolic foods that reflect the traditions of Rosh Hashanah.
As part of the initiative, 65,000 families will receive festive food baskets filled with fresh produce such as apples and honey, pomegranates, beets, and dates. In addition, 2,500 hot holiday meals are being prepared, including salads, soups, main dishes like fish and chicken patties, and desserts. These meals are carefully packaged using special technology that maintains freshness without preservatives, making them suitable to enjoy throughout both days of the holiday.
Distribution will take place across the country just before the holiday, with a special focus on families evacuated from their homes as a result of the war. To help them celebrate with dignity—even in temporary housing—Leket is also providing cookware, plates, and cutlery so that every family can enjoy the holiday around a proper table.
Leket B’Dvash ensures that thousands of families will begin the new year not only with nourishing food, but with a sense of festivity, belonging, and hope for sweeter days ahead.
