In honor of International Women’s Day in early March, a number of Leket Israel employees ventured out to a Leket nonprofit organization partner agency, a women’s shelter in northern Israel, to help renovate their dining room. Working with a local interior designer, the staff was divided into different groups to help clean, paint, weed, and organize the facility in order to make the room a more inviting space.
“International Women’s Day is an opportunity to empower women, and what better way to celebrate this than by volunteering with women who are trying to rebuild their lives,” shares Shelly Karmona, Director of HR at Leket Israel. “In our day-to-day work, we don’t always have the opportunity to see the recipients of the food we provide. It is such a fulfilling feeling to know that when these women and their children come to eat the fresh, rescued food they receive from Leket Israel, they will be doing it in a brighter, more welcoming room.”
