We were delighted to welcome US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides at the Logistics Center in Gan Haim recently. The Ambassador was greeted by Leket Israel CEO, Gidi Kroch and Founder and Chairman, Joseph Gitler and then did a tour of the facility while learning about Leket’s food rescue operations. Then the Ambassador rolled up his sleeves and helped pack packages of fresh produce to be distributed to Israelis in need in time for the holiday.
“Having spent time volunteering with Feeding America in New York, I understand the importance of food aid organizations and the assistance they provide,” shared Ambassador Nides. “Visiting the Leket Israel facilities and seeing the quantity of produce that Leket Israel is distributing to Israelis in need, demonstrates how vital the work they do is and I’m proud to take part in packing boxes for families for the holiday. I look forward to many more opportunities to partner together.”
“Israel and the United States are partners in the fight against food insecurity and I applaud Ambassador Nides for taking the time from his busy schedule to visit Leket Israel’s Logistics Center not only to learn about the important work that Leket does but also to roll up his sleeves to pack parcels of fresh rescued food for Israelis in need for Rosh Hashanah, ” commented Joseph Gitler, Leket Israel’s Founder and Chairman.
