Moshe and Suzan Asraf are dedicated veteran volunteers, who have been involved in Leket Israel’s cooked meal collection for the past 11 years.
Every week, starting in the late evening, they take their private car and collect cooked food in large quantities from banquet halls in the Sharon region. Volunteering ends in the early hours of the morning and, despite the late hour, they are always ready to transport the food wherever is needed.
As of today, Moshe and Suzan have made 550 cooked meal collections, from which they saved approximately 12,000 cooked meals which were then transferred to Leket Israel’s nonprofit agency partners in the Sharon region.
The values of goodwill and giving also spread to their daughter, who in recent years has joined in the volunteering. Together, they rescue cooked meals, which are rich in protein and carbohydrates and do it with a smile, a positive attitude and a love for giving to those who don’t have.
Leket Israel rescues tens of thousands of pounds of fresh produce as well as cooked meals and distributes them to hundreds of thousands of needy Israelis all over the country. This would not be possible without incredible volunteers like Suzan and Moshe.
